SUSTAINABILITY?

At TomRimmerDesign Ltd we have the utmost respect for mother nature and the planet we live on, so we do our best to maintain sustainable practices.

Our standard timber for benches is FSC certified C24 pine which is sustainably sourced in the UK. This timber is then pressure treated so it will last longer and not need replacing which would be a waste of natural resources. We also offer Iroko hardwood as an option which is from sustainably managed forests in Africa. Due to the wood’s naturally weather- and rot-resistant properties it will also last a long time outdoors which mitigates any environmental impact over a period of many years.

Our concrete uses the same principle of mitigation as it’s not the most sustainable material. However when it's in use for a sustained period of time any environmental impact is mitigated over that time. Our manufacturers use EcoCrete in the production of their concrete which is a more sustainable mix which can save on 85% of C02 emissions as opposed to regular concrete.

In regards to our steel parts, we support recycling and reuse of steel. Due to the nature of steel lasting so long its environmental impact is mitigated over many years just like concrete. If our steel was to only to be used for 2 years then thrown away that would not be ideal, however since our benches are designed to last 15-20 years the impact on the environment is minimised.

The BRÜT range is designed to be totally recyclable. If for any reason you decide to replace or dispose of one of our products we urge you to get in contact so we can come and collect waste materials that can be reused or recycled.
