Sustainability

Great care must be taken for the environment to preserve the world we live in. That's why at TomRimmerDesign Ltd we abide by 2030 SDG's (sustainable development goals). This includes using sustainable/ recycled materials, decreasing C02 output in all means of production and by ensuring that our products can all be disassembled and recycled.

Learn more below about our sustainability policies

Pile of Logs

“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt

Sustainable forestry

We only support sustainable forestry, all our pine is FSC certified and Iroko is harvested from sustainably managed plantations.

All of our timber can be recycled once its lifetime is over, we suggest customers ring us so we can collect the timber where it can be chipped and put into composting.

The last think we'd suggest you do it burn the timber, this only releases all the C02 it has captured in its lifetime back into the atmosphere which is harmful.

EcoCrete

Regular concrete is not good for the environment due to the C02 released in its production.

That is why we use EcoCrete made by HeidelbergCementGroup. This revolutionary product brings down C02 production by up to 85% when making concrete!

The good thing about concrete is that whatever environmental impact it may have is mitigated over its long lifespan unlike plastic products which get thrown away and replaced regularly

Our concrete can also be recycled, once the bench is finished the concrete bases can either be reused or crushed to be recycled into aggregate for new concrete.

Broken Concrete

"CO2 is a potent greenhouse gas, and our excessive emissions are disrupting the Earth's natural balance."

- Sir David Attenborough

steel-recycling.jpg
  • Recycling one tonne of steel saves 1.4 tonnes of iron ore, 0.8 tonnes of coal, 0.3 tonnes of limestone and additives, and 1.67 tonnes of CO2. Using recycled steel to make new steel reduces air pollution by 86%, water use by 40%, and water pollution by 76%.

Recycled steel

Steel is another material which is highly damaging to the environment when made from scratch.

To combat this we use recycled steel as Using steel scrap instead of virgin ore reduces CO2 emissions by 58%.

Our steel parts can be reused or recycled after the products lifecycle is over. We urge customers to call us to collect steel parts so we can recycle them.
